Default Catfish

I remember going to a place on the eastern KY and TN boarder called The Diamond. They had the best catfish I have ever eaten. They closed about 15 yrs ago due to poor health of the owner but MAN oh MAN that was some good fish ,hushpuppies, coleslaw, and beans

If you went on a weeknight it was only about an hour wait

I have had some good fish around Realfoot Lake but nothing compares to the Diamond

Best catfish I have ever had was on a family trip to Lexington to visit Jim, Tom and Kathy at Thiel. They took great pride in their bourbon and their catfish. I always thought catfish was just ok until the Thiels and Kathy showed me the light. Great people, great food, great trip! Wow!

Would love to have experienced the Diamond.

Doug.......I was on a project in Mayfield, Kentucky back in the early 90's. Just outside of Mayfield was a restaurant called Catfish Corner. They served farm raised catfish that was out of this world. The plate was an 18" oval platter covered with eight fillets, fries and cole slaw, plus two sides served in bowls. It was way more than a single person could eat. They were also famous for blueberry cobbler and homemade vanilla ice cream. When you ordered that it came in a cereal bowl. Almost more than you could eat. I loved eating there.

Thanks Jim,
I spoke with him several times on the phone as we had no Thiel dealer around . He was a very personable man. He spent about an hour on the phone with me explaining his speaker design.

Dan it is still there. I have relatives all over that area from Paducah to Paris TN. Mayfield is about 20 miles from where my family is from. There are numerous stories of my forefathers moving from KY to TN probably to avoid the LAW great food down there !
Did you ever get a hold of a Clifty farms ham ?
