Right from the start I knew it would be difficult to let this unit go. I think that some individuals under value the importance of synergy between amp and pre-amp. Whether one prefers McIntosh, Audio Research, D'Agostino, Burmester........ I think pairing products from on manufacturer is hard to beat. Mixing and matching is very hit and miss. |

Thanks Jim for the review
I would love to have a listen to it with my MomS BTW, how is the remote in an ergonomic way. The volume + and - looks close to the bottom, does it work well? How did you find the steps in the actual volume itself, easy to get the right volume setting? I wish you used the tone controls to hear how much they change the sound |

Since I didn't take the time to do anything with the tone controls and only connected the Meridian as a source, I only used the remote to turn the pre-amp on and off and adjust the volume. Therefore for the most part it sat on the arm of my chair for correcting any volume differences between discs. I had no issues adjusting volume or finding the mute button. Another note. When the unit is powered off the bezel around the "meter" which can be used to raise and lower the volume, spins free and silent. When the unit is powered on adjusting the volume is accompanied by a quiet "ticking" sound letting you know that the optical dial is moving. Nice. |
