If you can see opportunities to do audio recording (with bands or orchestras), why not.

But then you'd need to find answers to some questions:
1) How many channels (2, 6, or more)
2) What microphones (DPA, Sanken ?)
3) Long cables, mic stands, headphones
4) PC workstation for mixing and editing/mastering (Steinberg, Pyramix ?)

Maybe, in your country you could hire pro gear (Nagra, mics) from a pro audio/video rental company to give it a try (and not having to spend too much money from the beginning) ?

And: microphone placement is the most crucial task in audio recording and is therefore considered as an art rather than a science.

RME & Apogee are good brands
Good point!
A workstation solution is an alternative I did not mention in my previous post.
And RME would be a good choice.

But, since we are talking here about C-3850 sound quality level, I must say that the analog inputs of my RME Fireface UC do not match the ones of my Nagra VI
(that's why I use the Nagra for Vinyl to digital conversion).
