There has been one on Los Angeles Craigslist for months, but it seems pricey, and is being offered by a pawn shop. The ad says they are "ready to deal for CA$H". Even if they had the proper boxes and were willing to ship, I don't know that a pawn shop is the best place to gamble on expensive stereo equipment. Good luck in your search!

As others have recommended, I think I will simply have to wait it out for one to appear for sale from a reputable source on Audiogon or US/Canuck Audio mart. etc. Or, preferably, from Audio Classics. John |

Your Thoughts - Best Sounding Mac Integrated Pre MA8000?
There is an aggregation site, hifishark.com which is a great place to find stuff wherever it is posted globally. You can filter by region. This morning there is the one MA7000 in BC and 3 MA8000’s for sale in N. America.

I expect to be running up to Audio Classics soon and I'll be happy to bring the matter to Ryan's attention. Every B1 graded unit I've ever purchased from Audio Classics was nearly indistinguishable from new and you can be assured it will be packaged properly.

Used MA8000's are simply too expensive for the budget I mentioned earlier ($4500.00) The MA7000 should be affordable for me as noted in this earlier response: Originally Posted by John Clark What about the MA7000? Should be readily available within your stated budget. John |

Does anyone have any idea how much the mark up is for Mac gear? I'm not trying to uncover secrets here but it might help to know. Please read the related information, you don't have to be completely specific.
Associated with an entirely unrelated deal I was handling for the corporation I was consulting for, a rep from the brick and mortar we spent a LOT of money with came out of nowhere with an unexpected offer today He said he really appreciated the time and effort I had put into the proposal and implementation and had heard from other people on the project that I was into audio. As thanks, he told me, essentially, that he could offer me a purchase, at cost, for any one piece of current McIntosh equipment that I desired by way of thanks. The only really applicable component is the MA8000, but even at cost, I don't think my budget (even if I extended it a bit) could afford that. Am I right? John |

I was in your shoes a few years ago. I had owned the MA6500 for a long time, sold it, then 2 years ago decided I wanted it again but couldn't find the right one. (outside AC)
I ended up with Yamaha AS1100 and couldn't be happier, but if the 6500 ever pops up here locally I'd probably purchase. Guess my point is to keep options open and be patient. GL. |

The only thing that really matters is how much he wants for the MA8000 from you.
