I see the value in a singular approach when it comes to electronics... ARC on ARC, Shindo on Shindo, Burmester on Burmester etc...

Given more resources I would love an ARC/Magnepan system as well as an all Shindo outfit. I am however but a humble teacher/gardener so that aint likely. My reality is that I can only afford one good system...

With your highly developed tweaking nature/gifts/sensibilities I wondered if you had as yet done the unthinkable and tried to see how Shindo and ARC might go together.

I'd love to be able to keep the Maggie's magic and also up the daily dosage of injected Shindo (clearly now a bit of an addiction). But this rules out a Lafon GM70 for me unfortunately.

The Aurieges was for me an affordable experiment... I would not consider an audio future without a good bit of that 'glass half full' magic of Shindo since I have had a taste now. After talking with a friend of mine who has a Shindo Garrard TT/Masseto/Lafon GM270/Shindo Autograph system and who has heard all the Shindo pre... my next step will likely be a Shindo VR.

So here is my tweakers long shot (I'm genuinely not being arbitrary I ask in considered sincerity)... maybe an ARC Ref 150 or 250 (if necessary) will let me keep both the Shindo and the Maggies... a mixed union made out of necessity rather than heresy and with all due respect to the three.

Serge I am sure you have many things on your plate at the moment with all the new gear on the horizon but if you ever do get the urge/curiousity to see how the Masseto and the ARC Ref 150/210 match up I would deeply value your findings. Genuinely looking forward to hearing how the ARC, Shindo, Tannoy room evolves... you bring a lot of interest to these pages.

cheers
Graham

I was dabbling with having both ARC and Shindo gear, and ended up selling my Ref3 to upgrade from an Auriges to the Masseto. I have now since upgraded from the Masseto to a Ref5. At any rate, I found the ARC amps sounded great with the Masseto, and the Ref3 worked great with the Montille. I think good gear can work well across company lines.

Gday Guitardave,

Welcome and also thanks for casting a bit of light on a potentially good synergy between ARC and Shindo, especially since an audition for me will take a 10 hour drive... feel better about my carbon footprint as I head south to check it out for myself.

cheers
Graham
