Default MC 303 Owners

Anyone own this baby? Thinking at some point would like to free up a 601 is over kill OK HAHA for my center CH.

the 303 for the center and rears would be great and I can rid the rack of one of my amps.

Looking for feedback

I had one. I purchased it used. Be VERY careful when buying. The unit I purchased overheated big time. According to Mc, they manufactured a batch with "Motorola board issues." Needless to say, because of the sheer weight and size, it REALLY sucked transporting it to get repaired. I ended up trading it away to Audio Classics.
Long story short....Check with the Mc factory prior to buying a used unit to see if they can help identify a known "problem unit."

You bet! Mc said the problem “let the amp run away and overheat.”

The amp itself sounded great and looked INCREDIBLE/BAD@SS. I had it driving all 3 speakers up front in my HT.

I use a set up with a MC452 for the fronts and a MC303 for the center and rears. Works great. I did have the trouble with it overheating. Took it to the MC Doctor and it was $1100 before I saw it again. Had to replace one of the Autoformers. The issue seems to be known by repair shops and McIntosh. I called Mac to talk with them about the problem before authorizing repairs but they were no help. I understand that everything breaks, it just would have been nice if McIntosh would have helped out with the repairs/parts since it seems systemic to this model. Good Luck.

I still use the 303 for the rear channels. When I got the Nagra Monos, I put one of my previous 601's on the center and the 303 for the back. I have had mine for awhile and never had any issues with it. It drives my B&W rear channels perfectly. It is huge as you probably know but its bigger than most racks in depth FYI.
