Jon - the MA252 is simply an amazing piece of gear. It's in my office now and it sounds great. Very lush without being muddy. I'm thinking that it may actually sound better than my PrimaLuna but will have to A/B them to find out.

McIntosh has a winner and this price point, it allows many people to get hooked on the brand for a relatively low cost of entry.

Next weekend, I may bring it home to see how it plays with my KEF Blade 2s!

Just heard it today at my dealers. Wow ! What an overachiever. Was really surprised how good this amp is. Had only 50 hrs on it and sounded fantastic.

Hi all, i am new here, and new mac user too, i am consider 2 different bookshelf to pair with it.... but couldn't design which would be better.
KEF ls50 white : Like the look and sounds, but worry it will be too warm to pair with MA252.
Focal 906: got a nice second hand with stand for good price. like it's high and mid. but not a fan of it's look.
my main listen is jazz, some pop. like the sound to be detail and good high. not a bass head. any opinion?

Hi and welcome.

I have had both speakers.

I'm currently running a pair of Focal 906's with my MA252. Have to say, I love the combination. This is my 1st pair of Focal and I think they are outstanding.

As far as the LS's, I ran them with a McIntosh MA2252 integrated a few years back. While, they are excellent speakers for the price, I think you will be much happier with 906's. The LS50's are great speakers, for a small space. The bass extension is definetly less than the 906's. Even though you are not a "bass head," you will need a sub with the LS50's for sure.

Good luck on your choice. No wrong answers here....both are great speakers.

I see, Thanks. i used to own LS50 as well, this time i would like to try Focal, but i guess there will be a new model soon after they replaced the 1028be with Kanta 2.

This forum could very well be bad for me and my wallet. I have not even finished setting up my main setup but I just purchased the MA252 on a whim (based on everyone's glowing reviews). It will be used in my office with my bookshelves and headphones. Now, I may need to upgrade my bookshelves to do the MA252 justice!

what are you going to pair it with? end up I just bought ls50 instead of focal906. going to set it up tonight and try it out.
consider to pair it with a focal kanta 2, in the near future.

have you got any chance to compare it with your primaluna?
primaluna was in my consideration but ruled out because i am not familiar with tube, but I really like its sound.

I have not really decided yet. At the moment, I plan to use it with headphones. I have not heard any comments regarding the MA252 being paired with headphones yet. So hopefully it sounds great.

I have to see down the line what bookshelves to pair it up. The only thing I have lying around at the moment are some old Wharfedale diamonds.

don't limit it to bookshelves
for a quick 5 min test, the headphone out is not as good as my m-dac with AKG 7xx.
maybe just my headphone. haven't spent enough time with the headphone out.
i would prefer to spend 70% on speaker, 30% on amp.
