Default Yes to house calls.

The B&W Doc does make house calls. "He" came to my house to replace the midrange rubber gaskets that position the midrange drivers in the nacelles on my N800s. I got two nice B&W coffee mugs to boot! I hope you are as lucky!

I lost both of my diamond tweeters about 5years ago. They died about 8 months apart. Never was able to determine why they broke but they were easy to replace (they were under warranty). Every thing has been great since then.
One of those mysteries of life I guess.

Default Tweeter

Got two new 800D tweeters on order from BW Support. They also had detailed instructions for doing the replacement. Seems pretty easy. Decided to replace both as I didn't want to have an "unmatched" set. Minor detail but we're audio geeks because we obsess over minor details. Right?

Cincy2,
If you research the B&W diamond tweeter you will find that in order to reproduce the signal close to the 20 kHz band for a tweeter that the materials needs to be very rigid in order to dodge the resonance associated with "breakup frequency". For years they used aluminum, then other materials such as berylium and titanium were tried. To get the stiffest material that closely matched the ideal tweeter B&W happened upon diamond. The only problem is a stiff material is also a brittle material. It is very easy to shatter the diamond tweeters. I know as I broke both of mine when transporting my 802D's. The mesh grilles offer some protection but not enough. If you have ever priced the difference between Nautilus 802's and 802 Diamond's then you know much of the additional bucks are in the tweeters. As you found out they are very easy to replace.

I'm not sure. I don't think the two tweeters that you obtain from B&W will have undergone any "matching" so they will probably remain unmatched as well. At least you'll have a spare should there be a need.
