Cramer: Concertos for Piano and Orchestra Nos 2, 7 & 8
Howard Shelley, piano and director London Mozart Players Chandon (2002), via Qobuz I don’t find Cramer’s music to be the most memorable, but Shelley is a wonderful performer and this is a very pleasant recording.

The Isserlis set, also on Hyperion, has been my standard for these suites.
Gerhardt's is now a very pleasant alternative. There's such a rich warm timbre and concert hall acoustic, not unlike that of the Isserlis disc. |

The "Archduke." Poor balances and overall too distant/reverberant sound mar this recording. The beauty of Qobuz is that it's easily deleted!

These violin concertos are turned into keyboard concertos (harpsichord and organ)--sheds new light on them, and it helps to separate the soloist from the accompaniment when everyone isn't playing a string instrument. Excellent sound.
