Despite prior efforts and the respect I have for it, I can't sit through it. OTOH, I have heard that the latest Met production is outstanding and can believe it from the snippets I've heard.

Saw (and sst through) the full production on PBS. My take is that the "outstanding" you heard is right on target.

I o'd on opera back in the day, dem bright lights had far too many opera houses. 24/7 on me Walkman too. Shame. I might play the Miles version soon.
