Serapeum of Saqqara.

The Serapeum of Saqqara is a serapeum (temple) located north west of the Pyramid of Djoser at Saqqara, a necropolis near Memphis in Lower Egypt. It was a burial place of Apis bulls, sacred bulls that were incarnations of the ancient Egyptian deity Ptah. It was believed that the bulls became immortal after death as Osiris Apis

Inside one can get a close look at the sarcophagi for the bulls.

The sarcophagus in the video is of particular interest. Keeping in mind that it was built (supposedly, since no one really knows other than the hieroglyphs on it used for dating purpose) in 13 century BCE or nearly 4000 years ago, what tools could have the Egyptians possibly have used to make such a box of granite with such precision. Some facts to consider is that it was carved/made from a solid piece of granite with precise 90 deg edges and the box lid has 1/1000 of an inch flat surface and the whole sarcophagus weighs between 70-100 tons! Today we use diamond tipped saw blades to cut granite since it is so hard. How would one do it before the Iron age and heat treated steel? Not to mention, how would they have carved the inside of the box out with such precision?? Boggles my mind.

Here is the toolkit for the Egyptians dating back to approximately 8 BCE or about 300 years after the sarcophagi were built. Now, I'm no expert in tools but these wooden handles with bronze or copper tools certainly do not inspire any confidence that they would achieve 1/1000 of an inch precision with a 70-100 ton granite slab that is perfectly hollowed out with 90 deg corners.

I doubt anyone would want contractors using these tools to be working on a granite kitchen counter-top today let alone to create such a precise box polished to mirror like finish.

Aliens, previous civilizations who have perished, who knows. I just find it hard to believe the Egyptians could have done it with bronze and copper that is much softer than what is needed for such stonework.

We'd be working real hard to create this today with our modern tools let alone the soft copper or bronze which would never work.

Sure looks like "machining" more than chiseling to me... Machining circa 13 BCE...

Artifacts such as the below photo shows, with no inscriptions was recently documented by a team of scientists. The precision of the work could not have been achieved by the dynastic Egyptians, or later Greeks or Romans and thus predates all of them, and had to have been done by people who had advanced machining technology was their conclusion.
