IMO, it totally depends on the rest of your system. The LS27 is a fine line stage (I know, I have one) so unless it truly is your 'weakest link' I'd suggest you do system evaluation first .......

I just purchased a new in-the-box Ref 5SE with black face plate for $7,000+tax. Would have loved to jump to the new 6 but this was too good a deal to pass up.

+1, I used to own a LS27 and consider it one of the best value for dollar pre amps I ever owned.
