Is the car/Ferrari theme a must have?

Have to decide between the gold or red highlights on the bezel & face. I'm thinking red with the black band. Will be the closest I'll ever come to owning a Ferrari.

Tough to beat a Seiko SRP (aka "the Turtle") for a daily beater...approx $325.

Not at all. But, I think its pretty 'neat', reasonably priced and likely decent quality, so jumped on it. Did check out the Seiko, Pulsar & Bulova models at our local horologist and the Ferrari watch falls into the sweet-spot $-wise for me. Plus, I'll have a nice Ferrari model car to gather dust (or give my grandson).

As it is a Ferrari, I went red. Delivery mid-next week to my Naples, FL address. That's pretty good, coming from Italy. But, Ferrari's are fast.

Looks like a fun watch! Every year at the ‘Cars on 5th’ show in February the Ferrari dealer from Tampa sells merchandise and they usually have a lot of watches available. A must attend show if you have never been.

Anything by Tissot is great. I have several and they are every bit as good as my Rolexes, Omegas, Tags, etc.

My local horologist tells me that only the higher end watches ($3K and above) don't start life in China. While the watch may have a Swiss or Japanese movement, the case is most likely Chinese with only the final finish (if even that much) put on in the 'home' country. He (and brother & brother's wife) are an interesting trio. They are Japanese-American born here in 1st years of WW2. Cannot have been easy for his family. Hope they last as long as I do as are all in their late 70s and are great to deal with.

My two (2) Ferrari's arrived. Just what I was looking for as a 'beater' watch. The model is very nice. Must weight 2-3 pounds. A good gift for my 13yr-old grandson.

That's probably true. It's quite an endeavour price wise to have a foundry in your back yard for the independent brands, or even the budget conglomerate brands, but the 316 stainless steel and sapphire glass that comes from the south China shores is of very high quality. Having a COSC chronometer original movement is where we see the watch company going the full 9 yards, with polished and bevelled edges the final criteria. So I brought a C.Ward.
