Christoph,
The HRS uses granite and has some sort of proprietary polymers as bushings. Additionally, depending if you use their stand, they are designed to try to decouple the vibrations from the stand. So, the cost is more than just the granite. I would agree with gadawg, I have zero issues with feed back. I have 2 subwoofers in the room, amplifiers capable of some room shaking output and I have never had an issue with feed back. I also am on a suspended floor. This, from my standpoint, was a one and done purchase. I cannot envision needing to upgrade this aspect of my system.

Default Experience with slate as isolation platform?

I‘ll try both solutions - really curious... would you give the quality of improvement soundwise a component status?

... is there a place in the US where it‘s worth looking out for a used HRS base - obviously not much can break so why not go 4 used... here (Europe) the bigger ones retail at 3.000 Euros...

I purchased my rack before I acquired my TT. So, I have only had a TT on my HRS rack system. But, the change with the rack was not subtle. In total, I have 8 M3X shelves on a SXR rack in addition to my amps on M3X shelves on amp stands. This was a huge improvement. Not sure how to quantitate it, but it was substantial.
I would suggest you join the site and poke around the market place. Ivan recently had some Black Friday specials on HRS and they do occasionally come up for sale. Although, I'm not sure why some one would sell their HRS rack. Prior to my HRS rack, I had a Kanso Audio Rack (the Kata) which is a very nice rack. It is not even in the same league as the HRS. Although expensive, it is a purchase that I have not regretted.
