Default Mass Drop Ortofon Offer

Can’t remember ever seeing a 2M Black being offered at such a low price.

For those who are not registered with Massdrop and can not see the price, the base price (Red) is $84.99.

Red is an ideal pairing for quality entry-level turntables; Blue boasts more dynamics, resolution, and openness; Orange adds even more detail; and Black offers the best of everything.

The Black works out to be $84.99+$365=$450 vs $755 typical online price elsewhere.

^^Thanks for the extra input Serge. I didn’t think about the registration part since the links open automatically for me.

I myself am a MC guy. But if I were to go back to a MM cart the 2M Black would be at the top of the list. People that I know who use that cart say it’s an excellent tracker as well.

One thing to note about the Black is regarding its Shibata stylus profile. While indeed it's a fine cartridge and arguably one of the top MMs available, its stylus profile is pretty demanding of precise VTA/SRA alignment. If your tonearm can't accommodate fine height adjustment you'd have a much easier time going with the less expensive 2M Blue and its much more forgiving Elliptical stylus.

I was one of the poor guys who joined this suspicious group buy. It got canceled in the end, and no official reason was provided. Rumor said someone contacted the manufacturer.

Since I am a member of Massdrop and have participated and purchased more than a few times and was completely satisfied each and every time, I looked at the comments about this Ortofon drop. It seems that Ortofon did not come through on this massdrop deal. Massdrop actually credited the participating members and even added a $10 credit for the next drop. What scam???
