Dan.......Reading your post immediately put a knot in my stomach. I hope these bastards rot in hell. Better yet, I hope they attempt to rob someone who is home, armed, and lets them have all the hot lead they can carry.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Dan. Reading your post makes my heart sink. I certainly hope your insurance company treats you well and gives you enough money to not only replace everything but also upgrade to the latest and greatest models. I also recommend installing a high quality surveillance cameras inside and outside your house. Personally, I advise against owning large guard dogs because they can become a legal liability. They are more likely to attack an innocent person such as the mailman than an actual intruder.

So sorry about this. Know though that you will recover and probably be all the stronger.

Dan, I'm very sorry to hear this. That is the most horrible experience. It happened
to my parents when I was 15 or so -- gut wrenching. I hope that your insurance
does a decent work.

Sorry Dan. This sucks.

Also:
You need to move to a safer town.
Buy a medium to large dog breed. Perhaps not an attack dog, but a bigger family dog that can't be silenced with a bad guy's foot.
Obviously a home security system is needed, and these are a bargain should you or a loved one been home during the invasion.
Video cameras could help catch the guys, and for a discount look at hunter's trail cameras. Not only could it help catch a crime committed to you, but if someone robbed your neighbor you could give them a solid lead.
If you're willing to defend your family and yourself (not killing to protect your cool stuff), consider training with a firearm.

This just happened in my hood a couple blocks away, 1 out of 4 caught.

I am so sorry. We all should take this to heart because it can happen to any of us. Recently, I spoke to my insurance agent and increased my contents to the full amount I have on my house which is well above the replacement cost. If you have your house insured for at least replacement cost you if you rebuild you get an additional 20% if needed. I did this because of the cost of replacing my system. There are so many things that can cause disaster. If you have an ultra expensive system unless you have thought specifically about it, you may not be carrying enough contents insurance.
