Here in the Huntsville area there is a great deal of boom, but not a mystery. With the local military base, Redstone Arsenal, a lot of activity is ongoing with both the presence of the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command missions and the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center missions. The latest addition to the arsenal is the 200 plus foot tall structural test stand for NASA's Space Launch System used to test rocket propulsion systems.

Gatesville Police were investigating reports of a loud boom Friday morning but had not found the source of it, according to the department.

We get “booms” down the coastline, and think (term of uncertainty) it’s from the waves from passing by container ships hitting some sections of cliff at high tide

These are booms that rattle homes. Sometimes all across small towns as in the Gatesville TX case this past Friday.
