I bought my demo INT150 (less than a year old) from Mark a couple of years ago at 45% off, and he told me a few weeks ago he'd give me almost what I paid for it in trade. Hard to beat that.

I'm going to give Mark a call and find out what's up. I'm in da mood for something different.

This Pass Labs amp will make the Kleiber / Beethoven music you just bought come alive

Possibly, but new speakers would be in order, too, I would think. I've decided to upgrade the electronics first this time.

Yes, definitely. I like Magnepans. Check out the 3.7s. Great performance to value ratio. Big panel sound perfect for acoustic music.

[QUOTE=Pider;592193]Sure would like to know how things are going. I was just trolling on their website and found my way to their two integrated units. I like the looks of the 30A, but like you have absolutely no experience with Pass Labs, let alone class A.
I only have around 100 hours on my Pass Int 30A (likely a bit more than that as it was purchased as a demo) but I am already convinced. Talk about a well built piece of equipment! I am stretching it a bit by matching it to Magnepan MG 12s but it seems to handle them well enough. If the amp is switching out of class A, I sure can't hear it. It sounds good after a short warm up but really gets good after 30-40 minutes. I am now a believer in class A. I can only imagine what some bigger class A mono blocks would sound like with 3.7's or 20.7's. |

What do you typically have the volume control set at with the big Maggie's?

This set up yields the lowest noise and the purest sound in my opinion and I find it very satisfying. The K-03 line stage stage puts out enough voltage to drive the 20.7s to satisfying SPLs. The attenuator on the K-03 is usually set, depending on the recording, between -30dB and -10 dB. The loudest I listen to is 95dB SPL peak. When reproducing some orchestral climaxes the needles on the XA100.5s do move meaning that the amps went into class AB mode, but I can not tell when this happens from the sound coming out of speakers. I hope this helps. |
