Best way to connect 2 subwoofers to C2300 and MC601s
In my two channel system I will have a C2300 connected by the preamp outputs to two MC601s. I would like to add two powered/active subwoofers (JL Audio E112) with built in crossovers to the system. Since each subwoofer is next to an amp, can I connect the right MC601 unbalanced output to the right subwoofer unbalanced input. Then connect the left MC601 unbalanced output to the left subwoofer unbalanced input.
If I understand correctly, the typical way to connect two subwoofers would be to connect the a right unbalanced preamp output on the C2300 to the right subwoofer unbalanced input and then the left unbalanced preamp output on the C2300 to the left subwoofer unbalanced input. The reason I ask is because it would be a much simpler and shorter connection to go from the MC601 unbalanced output to the subwoofer unbalanced input. This would reduce the cost of upgrading cables due to the shorter distance. I don’t think this will change anything but I will also be using the HT pass-thru feature for my receiver when watching movies. Thanks, Patrick |

Hi Patrick ... I have my subs connected to my MC-601 exactly like you describe just via the balanced outputs of the amp since I'm using balanced cables from the preamp to the power amps. So as long as you area connected via single ended from your preamp to the amps you can use the single ended outputs to the subs. I'm not sure if you can mix 'n match or not? I'm guessing not since there is a switch on the back of the amp where you need to select balanced or unbalanced inputs. Hope this helps! Great amps by the way!

Hi George...thanks for the quick reply. I was hopping that would be the case. Also thanks for the warning about not mixing balanced and unbalanced cables/connections. That will keep me from messing anything up.
I’m always impressed at how friendly, helpful and knowledgeable people are on this forum! Thanks again, Patrick |

Best way to connect 2 subwoofers to C2300 and MC601s
If you connect your subs to Output 1 or 2 on the C2300, you can turn them on/off from the front panel or via remote. I really like this feature to easily compare the system with and without subs.
I’m curious, why aren’t you using balanced cables between your preamp & amps? Mike |

That does sound like a nice feature which I’ll have to consider. I just got the preamp and the receiver I was using as my preamp did not have balanced outputs. I do want to give them a try at some point though. My furthest amp from where the C2300 will be placed is only about 7ft and the C2300 isn’t a balanced preamp so will there be a significant difference between using a balanced vs unbalanced cable? Thanks, Patrick |

I had it as Mike has suggested.

Bumping a slightly old thread...
I have a C2300 currently connected to a MC402 via XLR’s. As I read the posts here, I can connect a powered subwoofer that has XLR’s using either the XLR 1 or 2 outs on the C2300? |
