Default Anyone running an MX121 w/an MC7106?

I do watch a lot of TV and movies, especially nowadays. I have a C2500/MC402 for my 2 channel setup, among other components. I believe the C2500 has a theater pass through and can use the MC402 for my fronts and two REL subs and the 7106 for the rears and center channel correct? And I've heard that it isn't exactly seamless - having to use the trigger control cable and having to shut down the system and restart it if I want to use 2 channel again after watching TV... anyway, just looking for some opinions. And yes, money is always a factor. The MX121 would be $2k MAX and I can get a recently serviced 7106 for $1400...

I have a MX121 which I may have used with my old MC7106. I can't remember exactly since it was quite a while ago. I do remember using the MC7106 with a MX120 and MX136. The MC7106 is a very versatile amp. The MC7106 is a very old amp with lights that burn out. Mine worked fine except for the lights but for me it wasn't the best sounding amp. Most likely because of the age. I bought my MC7106 from Audio Classics with a year warrantee. I had it for a few years before I sold it for less than $1000 which I was happy to get. It always worked but I replaced it with an inexpensive Arcam HT amp which sounded much better. I use this amp on my TV system now paired with a MX121. If you can swing it, I would go for a MC8207 amp. I use this amp on my HT system and it sounds great. Just my two cents.

got the 7106 today, and it doesn't light up at all. I think it works other than that but I'm returning it. I can't fix this...crap!

so...it does work, tested it with my C2500 and one speaker and a CD - each channel plays fine. no lights. guessing it's the bulbs and they aren't replaceable easily - their soldered in...

You are in good company. The lights haven’t worked on my MC7106 for a few years. Amp works great for my purpose which is to power a 5.0 TV system along with a MX121. I have owned the amp for 23 years and have had the lights replaced once. Can’t be bothered to replace them again even though I have a spare set.

I use 207 amps, (2) and I thought they sounded a bit to sweet and a little bloated with the MX 119 and 120. The MX 151 fixed all that and that was before I set up the Room perfect mode. It. also has a good phono section. AS good as my MP100 using a digital connection. Theres an 207 for 4499 and 4999 as I remember at Audio Classics. MX 151 pricing changes from time to time. Any where from just under $4000 to just over $5000. The problem with the pass thru option with any Mac HT processor is that it by passes the equalizer sections of the HT processors. So I have a switch, thru the HT processor, or the Mac stereo pre-amp feeds the power amps directly, Besides my Mac pre-amp was pre-pass thru. I have a C-34 and I don't have room for a C-40 and am unwilling to give up the flexibility I have with the C- 34 that the modern pre-amps whether tube or SS don't have.

Taking the 7106 in to my guy tomorrow, no charge to fix it so why not. i want it to look as pretty as it performs. Thanks all. Realized that since the lights on the meters and the rest of the bulbs are different types, there's something else going on with it.
