This afternoon I set up the Sony XBR49X900E in the bedroom to connect wireless via WiFi to my router. I have the 65" Sony in the living room connected via Ethernet cable to my router but I don't have an Ethernet cable in the bedroom. Fortunately these new televisions have WiFi capability. Setup was a snap. It found my router, asked for the password, and connected immediately. I am happy to discover streaming 4K via WiFi works perfectly.

Dan,
You will love the 4K experience! My friends always come over to watch the Blacklist. They say it looks like you can reach out and touch Raymond Reddington !

Doug.......I am loving the 4K experience. Picture quality is incredible. It is a long ways from the black and white cathode tube television my family had when I was a kid.

Yes, the Netflix series Blacklist looks remarkable in 4K. I can't seem to watch just one episode. Last night I watched three episodes in a row. It is an addictive television series.

I have the 203; I love it!
So much better than the sony (bluray) it replaced. It's fast and stable, better remote. Superior to Sony in every way except it doesn't do internet streaming like netflix and amazon.

Mouse.......The good news is most new smart TV's have all the streaming apps designed in so it isn't necessary to have the same streaming apps in the Oppo players.

But then it's harder to set up to run through the AVR, right?

Marc.......No, not really. Most new smart TV's have digital out, usually Toslink. That is how my two new Sony televisions are equipped. This digital output supports surround sound. Run a fiber optic Toslink cable between the television and your processor and you are good to go.

Need to check specs of the TV’s optical out. It may max out at Dolby Digital 5.1. It all depends what kind of surround formats you want to hear.

Oh, OK. I personally like the idea of everything going one way, so I have a streaming stick (with various apps) plugged into my AVR. But I can see how it's possible to set up both ways.

Shouldn't you be able to get that sound through the ARC via HDMI?
