They don't publish their bit rate but the consensus seems to be an average of 190. See this article for an interning overview (although I can't vouch for the accuracy).

Music on the Go or MOG is excellent! The benefit of Spotify is it's social, users share what they're listening to, with anyone. It's hard to get the traditional "Want to come over and listen to records?" in a era of headphones, auto-custom playlists, and mobile devices.

Now if only Ivan could get Spotify linked to AA so we can share with people who care and save us from Facebook.

Currently there is no Social Media API on this site. Best way to contribute is to post here http://www.audioaficionado.org/music...aming-now.html

How To Choose The Right Streaming Music Service
I read the bit rate is higher than that and AAC not mp3, it certainly sounds full with good midrange, treble and bass.

Perhaps this is a more recent development? Where did you read about it?

I used iTunes radio over the weekend via my Apple TV into my ARC DAC8. I was very pleased with the sound. Liked the "radio" stations as well.

Compression is big business, do some reading about the patents and the complexities of ecoding raw audio to a delivery format.

What interests me, is the perceptual coding or encoding of music. Ties into a great deal of pyscho acoustics. i.e Masking, etc..

Bottom line, it's very interesting since compression has to meet the standards of the masses and now it's getting credibility as it becomes more refined to meet the "Audiophile standard."

If you are asking about old fashion "radio", ie AM/FM broadcasting, it's analogue, thus NO bits at all!

(Excuse my ignorance- never heard of rdio.)

Radio has an equivalent bit depth, based on signal to noise - which is not as good as LP or CD .
Bitrate - fm radio may not be as good as Pandora in performance. I feel it's purely nostalgic.
