I love my XA160.5s, plan to keep them forever. I like the .5s tonality better then .8s. Just personal preference.

I tried the XA100.8s in my system and had the same impression. Kept the XA100.5s.

Same here. Had 60.8 and go also for the very last ;-) 160.5 and my system is all about music.

UPDATE: 160,5 are sold. Now Back on track with Aleph-X :-) ( That`s DIY Amp that are the best IMHO )

Revisiting this thread with some experience of my Xa 100.8.
Still wondering whether Xa 160.8 will be better for wilson Audio Sasha mk i.

Looking at max output current the Xa 100.8 has 40 amps.
Xa160.5 has 36 amps
Xa 100.5 has 28 amps.
i believe the max output current is the parameter to match for speaker with impedance drop. hence it appears that the XA 100.8 is the winner.

The Xa 160.8 has and Xa 200. 8 both have 50 amps.

DAMPING FACTOR;
All the above amplifiers and the Xs 300 have the same damping factor of 200.
i deduce therefore that damping factor of 200 is adequate for these amps.

coming to my problem it appears the Sasha needs max output current of 26 amps when impedance dips to its lowest.
therefore the Xa 100.8 is more than aderquate and better than Xa 160.5 in this regard.
looking forward to corrections to my assumptions

Default Running XA160.8 all day

This is a fairly old thread but hoping someone who has owned XA160.8 can chime in. I am wondering about how these amps fair running all day. These would be used in my main listening area all day. I realize power consumption would be a concern, but my pv solar produces more than I use each year, so that's is not an issue. Heat might be my main concern. Room is 26' x 18' and my climate would be similar to Northern Cali. Anything else to consider?

I would have hoped someone with experience with the XA160.x would have chimed in by now on how much heat the amps produce after they've been left on for a while. My climate is deep south and an additional heat source beyond our naturally hot summers would be a big concern.

I have the 260.8 and it does heat up my room. When running it would add 2-3 degrees w the door closed. My room is about 12X15x7. While I know it’s not the XA, it will give you and indication. Hope this helps.

I have the 260.8s. They are 34 watts of Class A running all the time. I consider them warm not hot. Works well up here in N. FL. I also had them in Naples, FL. Love these amps.

The XA160 would be a continuous 160 Class A running all the time. That’s going to be HOT!
