Sure, a Kamado can smoke, but its real beauty is that you can get a nice 800 to 1200 degree temp that is magic for searing meats or making crisp pizzas. That kind of temp would pretty much just burn through your fridge. p.s.: I'll agree that some of the Komodo brand of kamado grills are pretty darned UGLY. |

Mine has gotten to 800, but I chickened out beyond that. No pun intended.

I would like to revive this thread with a question. Has anyone tried any of the tables or enclosures for the Kamado Joe? The have a wood one and two stainless ones too. I wonder if any have fit into perhaps higher grad tables of their own?

I love my BGE. One of my favorite things to cook on it is pizza. Throw in some oak and get it up to 700+ and it's a very good substitute for a pizza oven. The best attribute of a Kamado cooker is its versatility.

I forgot to take pictures, but I did a turkey in my Kamado. Other than tasting a bit smoky, which I'm not sure I like for a turkey, it was moist and just right.

These cookers are great. I have the Large BBE. for 2 years now. I will never go back to gas or any other grill again. Food always comes out perfect.

I love Kamado cookers and use mine all the time. Nothing like a cooker that can go low and slow one day, and then do a pizza at 800 degrees the next
I use a XL Primo grill. I like the oval shape better, plus it is USA made so that is ok with me. |
