Thanks Charles, great pictures, that generator is a real beast. Nice to have peace of mind AND the sonic improvements all for one low price. If you dont mind me asking, what specific generator did you go with?

Of course you could be correct but mine was just installed. I might add that the $2,380.00 was the installed price. Don't have any idea what you can actually buy one for off the internet. I think it might be unwise to have a typical electrician install this device. The one who did mine also did my generator and then the engineer came around and tweeked it a couple of days later to get my green LED lights going. He also tested it out at the shop first. Mine is a professional installation and I plan on having mine checked semi-annually. These folks were pros. I was impressed.

I went with a GE 60kW natural gas whole house generator. The Tg60 was an afterthought as I began to wonder what would happen to my transfer switch in the event of a massive power surge. The installer is an engineer who worked extensively in the surge protection industry and he sent me all the literature on the Transguard system which is the one he definitely recommended. I suspect that the Tg60 is still available (certainly it could have been recently discontinued but I bet you can still get one) since I obviously just had one installed. Apparently there is a certain level that you must attain to in order to get all the benefits of the Transguard system. Other than the obvious ability to withstand higher voltage spikes, there is zero difference between the build quality or construction of the Tg300 and the Tg60. The Tg60 is the entry level device and all that a home needs. Filtration is the same. My room is dead quiet. Always I could hear a very faint hum, not coming through the Maxxes but the equipment itself. It is gone. Everytime I enter the room I listen for it thinking it will re-appear because hum is variable because power line conditions/quality fluctuate. Nope, it is gone and my treble and upper midrange remain very much improved

Did you consider the Select-SL3 (selenium enhanced) version of the surge protector?

No. It does extend the warranty to ten years though. I didn't have the option since I left it up to the contractor to choose the model/brand. He had extensive background in the surge protection industry and this is what he chose. Transguard says it is overkill for a sole house. I had zero idea that it would consideraly improve my sound. It was an after thought, really. I honestly don't understand why every audiophile doesn't have one installed.

Which exact model did you have installed?
Can you supply cost of unit and cost to install? Picture of install? |

I'll post a picture when I get a chance but it's not very exciting, The TG3 simply sits on the wall outside my house at the electrical service entry - about 6 inches above my transfer switch and connects directly to it via 3 big-ass cables run through a waterproof conduit. |

there are about 15 different variations of the TG3 80
Any way you can tell the exact one? |
