Default The Frugal Audiophile Question

I have a pair of Dynaudio Contour 20's with their matching stands. However, I am looking for better isolation from the hardwood floor they are resting on, without breaking the bank. Yes, I know I can get Stillpoints, IsoAcoustics, etc., but I was wondering if there would be any benefit to putting the stands on a subwoofer base, such as the Auralex SubDude? Could this be an economical solution?

I have the exact setup, I'm using the stock spikes and cups with Herbie's Audio Lab dots underneath. I've had excellent results with this. I believe the exact ones I'm using are regular size Thin fat dots.

Up until a couple of weeks ago I had all 3 of my MC Amps on the Auralex bases.

Moved to stillpoints stands and didn't notice any difference in the sound so I think it's a good value option.

If you haven’t already done so start by using Blu-Tac or a similar product to mechanically couple your speakers onto your stands.

I know you don’t want to spring for GAIA isolators but they are an incredible value and may be the best bang-for-the-buck upgrade you can make.

I have a full set of GAIA III that I had been using for another pair of bookshelf speakers and technically meet the weight limits. They just seem small for this application. I think I would need the GAIA II.

I also have a full set of ISO Pucks that I might try. But I’m gravitating towards a full platform base for stability reasons....at least in my head lol.

Blu-tak and those GAIA 3’s would be a very cheap way to try something out. I like almost free tweaks.

Have a look at this thread:
https://www.audioaficionado.org/showthread.php?t=47461

It’s very cost effective and some have had great results with them. I still haven’t received mine so I can’t comment myself but I should be able soon.
