Pass Labs Xs150 meter dimmed with power output
My Pass Labs Xs150 is usually played with the meter light switched off as I find it to be a little too bright in my room.
Later the meter illumination level was reduced with the dial at the back. I notice the light actually flicker with the power output. Does it mean the power reserve in the amp is fairly limited? With the current drawn from the amp, the light dimmed with power output. I uploaded a youtube video showing the flickering. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7OX6bAEiec |

First, congratulations on your state-of-the-art amps and welcome to AA.
How loud were you playing this music and how efficient are your speakers? The needle on a Pass amp only moves when the power output goes beyond its Class-A capabilities. I almost never see the needle move on my XA100.5s even when playing loud music and I'm driving somewhat inefficient speakers. I doubt the power reserve in the Xs 150 is limited. Take a look at the size of those things! I recommend you give the folks at Pass a quick call to describe the issue. They stand behind their products and will take care of you. Thanks cma29 for posting the video.
The Xs150 is driving Wilson Audio Alexia. It is not playing really loud. I am less than one meter from the speaker when the video was taken. The music is not too loud to bear. There is nothing wrong with the sound. It is great but other members may find it interesting to know this situation. |

Are you using dedicated outlets? If not that's why, you are experiencing voltage sags due to the current draw.

That may be why the voltage drops in the meter lamps. |

LED's
If you go to the very bottom range of the LED illumination, right down to the verge of them going dark, they become very sensitive to rail voltage supplying them..... so could be perfectly normal LED behavior.
If you want to check AC mains, then you're simply going to have to measure. To capture dynamics on the AC mains, then either a scope or analog meter A Digital meter may not have a fast enough refresh rate to capture quick little voltage dips on the line. Cyclotronguy |

Also, try to get audiophile-grade outlets by Shunyata Research or similar. |
