Yep - 3 dB up or down for each tap change and if you want you can mix single ended and balanced inputs - the unbalanced inputs have 6 dB more gain than the balanced ones. Very flexible!

haha! Thank you 4music, Gary, Tom, Kal, and Ivan!!!!

So since the gains appear to be close, or nearly the same, it looks like the plan would be to do:

C1100 Left - BAL XLR - MC2301 Left - BAL XLR - MC462 Left
C1100 Right - BAL XLR - MC2301 Right - BAL XLR - MC462 Right

I appreciate all the insights! Any idea what I'd expect in terms of differences in sound? I am gathering that the "added" power, extra headroom, and damping factors will all have a positive effect...

My theory is that the highs and mids will retain their smooth clear sound and the lows will have tighter bass, and speed/slam? I also assume that any dangerous under power scenarios will be avoided.

The results from bi-amping will be speaker dependent. I tried it on my Canterbury’s using identical amps for high and low. In my experiment, I could not tell a difference between using one amp or two.

Unless it is exactly the same, you can expect a tilt in the FR favoring the higher gain channel. This is probably the most common difference.

Thank you Kal, in the picture of the speaker terminals above, I should be able to tune up or down to compensate?

Yes, you can; I have quite a bit of experience doing passive bi-amping, and tri-amping. I also have an active tri-amped System.

I have never been disappointed with the results.
