AudioClassics may have some colored gels in stock to help adjust the color to your liking

In a shocking breach of protocol, AA members are actually trying to convince Thebenz not to upgrade!

LOL. It's like I had a DNR on this amp and all the sudden the buffalo are herding together to protect their baby! I was almost singing the Frozen song and, today I ordered the gels!

And back to the 2500... I am blown away by what I hear in songs I've been listening to for 30 years. Been listening to a SACD going through my DAC and this preamp is blowing my mind. I am hearing sounds in songs I did not know existed. It's as if I'm discovering my favorite band all over again. I cannot believe you guys did not pressure me to buy this 2500 sooner!

Unless you've had new gels installed in front of your meters they will be faded from 20+ years of heat. Not a big deal to install new gels. But, as you've stated in a subsequent post, you will benefit from a new amp. Not only will the colors match, the sound will improve from the new components (primarily caps) and design. If you want new gels you may be able to have that done in 1-day. When I lived in Plano in the previous century there was a certified McIntosh service center in north Dallas. If it still exists you might be able to arrange a morning drop-off, afternoon pick-up for new gels.

yea there are not any mcintosh certifieds around here that i know of. However, I think I am going to install them myself. I read some things and it does not seem too difficult. Plus, it might help me sell it!

You are correct. Just be careful of two things. Being glass, you can chip or crack the faceplate if you try to twist, pry, etc. And, the paint on the back of the faceplate is soft and fairly easily damaged if mishandled. Other then that, no biggie. Give Audio Classics a call. They sell the gels and provide phone-help, should you need any.
