Nice. Good pic of the old & the new. Do you run it much in Class A? Lots of heat for an old unit when you do. I always put a muffle fan over each the heatsink vents on my CA-2010 when running any time in Class A.

Actually I was advised against using Class A as the benefits would not be that much, and it's only 15W on the CA-1000 and my Mani-2 Signature are very power hungry (I actually fried the Lavardin IT Reference integrated of my best friend because of that... ). Even in AB, I don't push my speakers too much as I am afraid I could damage the amplifier. As much as I love those speakers, they are always a thing trying to circumvent their power needs. If they were 8 ohms that would be perfect as I really love their sound. I am slowly looking for an upgrade but the next speakers will have to be 8 ohms. I was thinking about the PMC twenty5.24; the bass response seems similar and they are not demanding in amplification. Montreal Audio Show is coming in 4 weeks so I am getting excited to go there. I will be more in purchasing mode than the last 2 years

Here are some pictures of before and after the modification, which consisted to remove the old cord lamp and replace it with a AC/IEC socket. The ground is not connected inside but the ground wire of the cable is still helpful for some technical reasons I don't remember... It works, all is good

Beautiful room and system. With the new room you have set yourself up for many years of gradual improvements which I have found is best way to enjoy. The high end is a wonderful journey that only a few take and appreciate. Again congrats!

Nicely done. Have a pair of Kenwood L-07M monoblocks inbound. Other than a recap of the power supply, plan to replace the period lamp-cord 2-conductor AC line with a proper IEC plug on each of them.

BTW - did you notice the Yamaha B-2 amp that is listed in the Classifieds? Is a terrific piece (the YB-2 refers to same back when my hobby was collecting and refurbishing them about 20yr ago).

Yes, I did notice the B-2 for sale, but for the time being I plan to stick with my CA-1000 after all the modifications I have done so far. Later, I will probably go with a Yamaha A-S2100 or 3000. Ever since I heard the Yamaha gear two years ago at the Montreal Audio Show, I was hooked to their natural sound. Money no object for vintage gear, I would like to have a nice restored pair of NS-1000M by Kenrick Sound in Japan (or the newer NS-5000 )

Some updates worth giving a shot

Not an "audio grade" audio rack fur sure but I really like the design and especially the yellow mustard high gloss color which is no longer available from Ikea. This is the Besta Burs model I got for a whooping 90$ . The room is still not fully decorated as per my plans but I know the furniture with blend in nicely.

I am worried though about how this is going to sound since there is a lot of furniture between the speakers. I am aware that the best scenario would be to have as minimum as possible in that spot. But it's all about compromies. I noticed that the flimsy wooden chip back panels are vibrating with the music. I don't know how this will affect the music overall. So far I don't perceive anything abnormal. If however I realise that the music is affected too much to not be accounted for, I will revert to Plan B which is to keep only the amplifier in the middle and moving everything else in the right corner. Not totally perfect again but it would already be better I believe.

My initial idea with this piece of furniture was to remove the two middle bottom drawers and put the amplifier there (see last picture for example). The DAC would have been on the top in the middle where the amplifier is now. And the digital player would be on the right side where it is. I was too excited (and too lazy to remove the doors) to have everything setup that I decided to try this first. With a longer USB cable, I will be able to move the digital player on the left for a cleaner look. Another touch I wish to give is to order the newer BDP faceplate from Bryston to match my BDA-3.
