Hi all I've owned my Wilson Sophia 2s for 7 years, were built in 2008 and sound great. However I'm interested to know when they are likely to need servicing and what that would involve. Will they need to go back to the factory at some point ?
Anyone out there will 10 year+ Wilsons - how are they holding up ? Last edited by Mikeoz; 01-30-2019 at 10:13 AM. Reason: made clearer - thanks Glenn |

You've answered the question. Your Sophia 2s are 11 years old rather than 7 years old (which I'm guessing is the time you've owned them). My CUB IIs were 12yr old when they left me and only problem in that time were the foam surrounds for the tweeters starting to flake. Am guessing it would be a 30min job to change.

I think the Wilson Folks will suggest you change the resistors as they tend to age due to heat stress if the speakers are played loudly. Otherwise you are good to go! Enjoy...

Knowing how much you love your Sophias, I would strongly suggest that you change the resistors.
If it is not better, I'll buy the new resistors back from you. ![]() |

Are the resistors easy to swap over ? Sounds like a good idea after a decade what harm can it do. I assume they aren't very expensive

They have resistor packages listed for most models. Often it's just a minor bit of work with a screwdriver. Your speakers sound will likely improve noticeably. Your dealer can also help or call Wilson. Here's another tip for you. Take a look at the new larger spike diodes and the plates if you use them. I had Stillpoint Ultras under my Yvettes and switched them out for the new larger diodes... a nice improvement in the sound and they look way better. There are two fittings of the larger diode. Get the right fitting size and you won't need to change the spikes. Enjoy...
