Default Question on how everybodies subs are connected?

Are most people running pre/pros at ft channels full range. Meaning l and r channels set to large or full range. Then running l and r channels to sub first then from sub to fronts and using the xover in the sub for the front speakers. Or is it more beneficial to use the lfe out on the pre/pro. It is just and idea of how to get true stereo Subs without having to buy a bryston 10b. Any better ideas?

I have 2 Subs in a 7.1 setup and am wondering if, instead of splitting the life channels to both Subs, running a sub on each front channel and using the xover in the sub would help with anything. The Subs and front channels are within a ft of each other so speaker distance is not an issue. I will how ever lose some bass management with this setup. Anybody experimented with this?

Stereo subs are the way to go in a 2 channel system.....I would not cross your front speakers over unless they are very small and low frequencies would overwhelm them. That said, is this for a dedicated 7.1 home theater system? What type of gear are you using? Some more info. would be helpful!

Lexicon mc12, rotel amps for the moment, and b and w matrix 805 for fronts, matrix htm center, cdm se series speakers for the rears and 2 velodyne cht 10s. It is 90% ht and also 2 channel at times. I am assuming I am over thinking this add I will not have a lfe channel if I hook things up this way. I may need more Subs.

Just trying to get input on if this will help with anything. I have everything tuned in at the the recommendations of every speaker set to small with all xovers set to 80

In my setup:

ARC Ref5SE has dual pre outs:
Pre Out 1 goes to the Electrocompaniet Nemos -> Thiel CS3.7s
Pre Out 2 goes to the Thiel S1 Integrator (which is set to the specs of my power amp and speakers)

Thiel S1 Integrator -> XLR out to stereo Thiel SS2.2 subwoofers

The Marantz AV8801 sees the Thiel 3.7s + SS2.2 combo as a full range speaker but otherwise does not perform bass management on the Thiel speakers/subwoofers.

A third subwoofer JL f113 is connected directly to the AV8801 as an LFE subwoofer for movies.

You are correct. If your two subs are in the left and right signal path, then you need a third sub for the LFE channel.

I failed to anwer the OP's first question, so here goes:

Stereo subs (preamp -->Bryston 10B SUB-->subs [lows] or amp[highs])

for two channel listening and the left and right (full range) mains for surround sound, plus a third sub for LFE only on surround sound.
