Default It does matter.

As some of you may know, I won a 1 meter Wireworld Platinum Starlight HDMI valued at $999 at our 2010 AA Extravaganza.
To be honest, I didn't have much use for a $999 HDMI cable because I don't have BluRay nor a TV that can output 1080P. Ivan & David of Wireworld was very accommodating to offered me a $1000 store credit towards any Wireworld cable.

Last week the man in brown dropped off a box of Wireworld goodies. Talk about super fast shipping! It took me longer to decide what I want.

I have been looking for a high quality glass 3.5m Mini to Tosklink cable to use with my MacBook music server. Here's what I got.

2 meters Supernova retails for $179

The build quality is superb. I really like that the connector spins freely. Here's a comparison to what I was using. Yes, it's a $0.99 mini adaptor connected to a $60 Apogee WydeEye optical cable.

Here's a shot at the cable connected to my MacBook.

I didn't know if a better optical cable would have any audible difference. My mind say it won't because it's digital, it shouldn't. I listened to the cable with my Apogee DAC on Denon AH-D7000 headphones. I compared the Supernova to the Apogee WydeEye cable (with $0.99 adaptor). Boy... I was wrong. The Supernova sounds much more refined, more true to life. The vocals sounds so real it felt like I'm in the studio with Adele.

I didn't want to believe it so I spent almost two hours switching between the two cables. The difference is definitely audible. It's like going from solid state to tube, but the sound is not soft at all. It's just more realistic and natural. I am truly impressed.

If you're looking for a GREAT sounding high quality glass Toslink optical cable for your DAC or Mac music server, look no further. This is the cable for you.

Stay tuned for the Equinox 6 speaker cables review. I will compare it to my MIT Terminator 2.
