Any members in Israel?
I am coming to Israel probably from January 18th to January 31st. I would welcome the opportunity to meet any members there. I am starting in Tel Aviv, but plan on seeing as much as I can in that short time.

Great place to visit. Chock full of history. Worked most of 1993 in and near Jerusalem. Am sure it is even better now. One of the techs lived on kibbutz west of the city and brought in a large basket of fresh fruit each morning. Wonderful. Was fortunate in having many "locals" to show/guide me around. Looking forward to your report once you've returned.

Awesome!!! I stayed in Tel Aviv when working in Rehovot for a month. Wish I would have had more time to visit Masada, Golan, Eilat, etc. I am jealous!!! On the way to Jerusalem you have to stop at Abu Ghosh for the hummus!!! =)

Found some of the tastiest food at the small hole-in-the-wall eateries of all sorts. The pickled (I think) red peppers tossed on a grill and served with hummus, salad and rotisserie lamb served over rice is excellent, as the goat knuckle (shank) served in a large bowl with rice and broth. Spent some time in the Hyatt in Jerusalem and there wasn't much to eat or do around there on the Sabbath, so you will want to ask ahead of time. Once I learned my way around it was easy, and things likely have changed in 20+ years. Simon Montefiore's, "Jerusalem: The Biography" is an excellent history of the city. I found Tel Aviv and Haifa less interesting.
