I like your pictures. You have an eye to find original perspectives.

Very loopy.

I decided to indulge also. B1s in black arrived a week ago. Currently running them in. Very music friendly. Lots more warmth and bass than in the shop. It's interesting how they just seem to allow you to focus of the music and not the hifi, it's about the whole rather than the parts.

Very pleasing to look at also.

Briz, wow, congrats!
We're sure that you will enjoy music as never before!
I like them in black too.

The B1 is the speaker that introduced us into the wonderful world of Vivid Audio.
We heard it for the first time at the Brussels Hi-fi Show in 2010.
I immediately knew this was something special. I had found the sound I liked the most of all the speakers that I had heard in my life. Like coming home.
I would have gone for the B1's if it were not for my fantastic wife: she preferred the looks of the G2 Giya's.
Asall good husbands, I didn't dare to contradict her...

Briz, you will not regret your choice. I have the B1s in black and like them a lot and more everyday.

Briz,

Congrats on the surprised aliens, as someone mentioned. Enjoy in great health.

I find it curious how they can seem less detailed, but I keep finding the opposite is the case. Listened to cowboy junkies last night and while the 804s would put the vocals more forward I find the Vivid let's you hear more without even trying. It's like nothing is emphasised. They are also way more satisfying at various volumes but particularly so at lower levels. It would be very hard not to like them.

I continue to also be reminded how different they sounded in the shop on Luxman gear vs my Naim and Conrad Johnson setup, which I chose running the B&Ws. I like what I have but I do wonder if I would have made some different choices had the Vivids been here at the time.

It's not an issue however as it's all good gear. The reference level Nordost cables also seem to get on just fine with the Vivids. I read that some cables could give bass issues and that sweeter amps might be called for, which made me wonder about the Nordost. I have detected no such issues,

I have noticed that the spotlighted imaging I was getting with the 804 is not there with the vivid, it gives a fatter image. The Queen of the Wave LP starts with a track that plays with phase so that you hear effects behind your head to the right and left. With the 804 this was very pin point sound effects that emphasised the illusion. With the vivid it's still behind you but it does not spotlight the sound as much. Which is right I do not know, the Vivid provides more musical enjoyment from the track, where as the 804 is more "show offey", if there was such a word. I have felt no interest in returning the 804s to the front to explore the difference further, they will stay at the rear as HT surrounds.

Thank you for sharing Briz.
You'll have good rears.
And splendid fronts!
