If it was the MPS-5, it's $15K.

Stephen...thx for the coverage. You mentioned you guys liked the Avalon/Electrocompaniet room. Do you remember how much the Avalon Idea speakers went for? Two-way or three-way design? Could it deliver real bass? Seems like Avalon is out with a few new speakers. The Transcendent ($15K) was just reviewed at The Audio Beat and the reviewer drove the speakers with ARC Ref 110s (which is surprising because Avalons normally require a lot of power and current delivery: http://www.theaudiobeat.com/equipmen...anscendent.htm). The ideas seem like they are a bit smaller than the Transcendent's (at least from your pics). Would be interested in your thoughts. Thx

Cyril,
Yes, both Mike and I really liked the Avalons. They were quite reasonable at $7995. It's a two way design, but with two mid-woofs, like my Contour S3.4s. They are not very tall, maybe 3 feet?

I'm confident I could drive these Avalons easily with my 70 Wpc C-J LP70S. My guess is the ARC Ref 110s put out plenty of high-quality current, and would be fine.

I thought they were fab....if I were not into Dyns, my speakers would either be Avalons or Harbeths. They imaged like crazy. And were beautiful with their faceted cabinetry in maser birch. I would have no hestitation whatsoever to recommend them to someone at their price point. Ritmo and I were both impressed, which, let me tell you, was hard to do after hearing the TAD standmounts.

RMAF is open to the public.

CEDIA is open to the trade/industry.
