Turntable Lamp

I've been looking for quite some time for a lamp/lite that I can use at the TT. I've been all over the place looking - either physically or surfin' - and almost pounced on a $125 lamp that was slim, but like so many have a big bulky lamp housing.

I wanted something really slimline -- heck, I just want to have something to shed a little more light onto the table & tone arm during cueing, etc.

Well, Ikea has the item, the Jansjo (39.99). Perfect for my needs & will probably outlast me.

That's one that was on the contenders list -- but now I know, almost double the cost of the Ikea.

Here's a nice little illuminator I've had on my Harman-Kardon turntable for 25+ years. Made by Signet, it is battery or power adaptor powered. It was a neat idea and I've always kind of liked it. The light contains a mercury switch that is activated by the raising of the dust cover. (or, it can be turned on or off manually). Trouble is, I don't know if these can still be found anywhere today. It was a nice idea, seems somebody would make something similar to it. The model number was SK507.

You could see in the dark? I couldn't, and I was young then too!

I use the Littlelite, LED version. It works great. I also never needed a light in the past, but now I need a light and my reading glasses.
