The black looks so much better! But it would be even better with black buttons, too. Owner of a silver Yggy here -- the best strategy is to hide it from view as much as possible!

Thanks, guys. I will be disappointed if Schiit can't produce a black Yggdrasil. I think the anodized silver looks very nice, also. I guess if that becomes my only option I may go ahead with a purchase. After all, it is the DACs performance I seek. The black color is simply an aesthetic contribution to the other gear in my rack. I could live with silver but I would rather have black.

Jason.......Don't think that hasn't crossed my mind. Once I have sufficient hours on the Yggdrasil DAC to consider it's sound fully matured I will compare it to the Esoteric K-01X DAC in the studio system. I am quite curious how the balanced ladder DACs and closed form digital filter in the Yggdrasil compares to the delta sigma DACs in the K-01X. Quite frankly I have high hopes for the Yggdrasil performance and overall sound. It may very well give the AKM DACs in the K-01X a run for the money. It should be interesting.

The anodized aluminum chassis looks/appears smooth in texture even up close. I think the black may show off the small imperfections in metal up close. It almost appears a bit rough in pictures but I have not seen a black one in person. Just something to consider if that is important.

Serge.......I thought the same thing. Since the aluminum case on the black Yggdrasil is spray painted matte black, not gloss or clear coated, I would expect a certain texture to the surface that would not be the same as the silver anodized version. The black case is different for sure but not unattractive to me.

No, definitely not unattractive in black, perhaps a bit less smooth in appearance but that is so minor in my book. I certainly would not care one way or the other, I just grabbed one in silver as soon as the itch hit.
