Breakdown7,
while clearing out folders today from initial research on these amps, came across this former member post of a pic/pdf. Reads "Inspire PSE", "2 tubes per channel". Disclaimer: have no clue if it's related or useful or valid or approved, it was on the internet. Anything goes, FWIW. Others will know better than I here. You may wanna screen shot it real quick if you need to keep a copy. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

PSE 4.jpg

That is the chart that DH sent me for my Inspire Fire Bottle PSE amplifier with volume attenuator, so I can vouch for it's authenticity.

The 6550 and KT88 have a higher output than the KT150.

Years ago I tried both and preferred the solid plate.
I've seen Dennis include EML solid plates with a 45 in the past.

TJ Full Music has a 45 too but I have not heard it. Which 45 does Dennis prefer?

BearCityUSA, straitwire, appreciate all the recent updates - Thanks!

Depending on whichever historical data is referenced, comparing the Inspire (Hot Rod stereo amp vs PSE mono amps), my stereo amp is 10-12wpc with one KT150 per channel. And, now this new PSE Univ mono at 7w per KT150 and 14wpc in total for each mono amp - if I'm understanding correctly. Hmmm, it's not enough of a difference on paper for me to try it. Gonna go check out some cool new tube amp builds playing this weekend at the California Audio Show on Saturday.

Default Heavy Metal or Hanz und Franz

Dropped off some stuff at the shop today, and Dennis was there working on a couple different things... so I got him going on the subject of big output transformers...
And this is what he brought out...
[IMG][/IMG]

These are 250 milliampere air gapped output transformers that work with an 813
I did not ask the power rating or the impedance...didn't care, just look at 'em!
The power transformer in the plastic bag to the left and back is a giant C.G. Conn power transformer with a taller stack and bigger footprint than anything we use, and they dwarf it...
(sigh) just something he had lying around...

I thought that was strange too! First I've ever seen of that, regardless of manufacturer. But thanks again guys for the PSE amp chart and the confirmation it was correct. Nice to know what kind of wattage I have to play with with the different tubes. Beings the circuit has the IIPS, I assume no need to change rectifiers with different output tubes? I've always ran a 5R4.

That is some serious output iron there above! No telling what Dennis is about to come up with next. You just never know.

I agree that 14 wpc may not be enough for your speakers. I'd double check with Dennis to avoid disappointment.
