MC352 MSRP=$4500.

MC462 MSRP-=$9000

75% MC352 MSRP= 3375

$4500 + $3375 = 7875



So $9000 >= $7875 and ..... ??



The catch in my case may be that 1) I need view meter bulbs and 2) I don't have a box. I did notice the trade in stipulated allowable deductions for missing packaging, etc. and this would only push the RHS of the equation lower. I'm not really troubled either way, but would expect a large company like McIntosh to lean towards favoring previous customers.

I think McIntosh owes an explanation as to why this does not qualify.

I think if McIntosh wants to move more gear they need a reality check. Love my c2500 but think i'd love a C52 even more. If they would offer 50% of the purchased MSRP( it did go up from when I bought mine)I'd toss it in the car and race to the dealer. At 50 off the dealer could resell it and make a small profit. If I wasn't lazy I would sell it here or on Craigs list for more money.

Like all McIntosh trade In and trade up programs in the recent past, you are much better off financially by selling your gear on the secondary market and negotiating a fair deal on a shiny new piece with your favorite McIntosh dealer.

That may well be true, but I expect a company like McIntosh to be true to their advertised offers or at least make their reasons for not honoring them clear.

That cut out the C1100 by $650.

To get the MSRP of an item one has to contact a dealer who has to get that info from McIntosh. McIntosh will then tell the dealer whether or not they will accept the trade. No amount of reading McIntosh’s promotional email or any of its links will tell you any of this. Asking an authorized dealer will reveal little more than what one can glean from the web as they have to get all their info from McIntosh.

So yes, I agree that the program is ambiguous.

Wow, Eric, sounds like a lot of "fine print." Sorry to hear that you had to go through so much.

Wonder how much my MC601’s would be worth against a pair of MC2301’? Hmmmm I forget how much I paid for them .

MC601's I believe used to retail for $13k and then with last price increase several years ago it was set at $14k. Using the formula:

$13K x 1.75 would be $22,750 $14K x 1.75 is $24,500

Current retail price for a pair of 2301's: $24K

Final determination of eligibility: your guess is as good as mine.
