frequentflyer...thanks for the heads up. I have the 2.4 and have enjoyed it for the past 7 years. I like the 3.7 a lot. The 2.7 looks very interesting.

I think it would be an incredible speaker. The 2.4 was great but the 3.7's midrange felt smoother and noticeably less jarring so it looks like they've transplanted the 3.7s midrange to the 2 series.

I'm waiting for the MCS2/1.2 with the 3.7 coax and dual woofers derived from the 3.7s as well.

Might try to pick up another MCS1 to join my current one and deploy them for surround.

Hi there...can you remind me what your system consists of? Always interested to hear what other Thiel owners are using to drive their speakers. So you have a pair of MCS1s right now? Any Thiel subs for low end? Amplification and source(s)?

Thanks

I am going to enquire when the 2.7s are going to start shipping to dealers. Will definitely check them out and compare them to 3.7s.

I only have 1 MCS1 at the moment. I was planning on picking up a second one and deploying the pair for surround, and get an MCS2 (or 1.2 not sure what they are calling it yet) for centre duties.

http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/inde...s-home-system/

I run a Project RPM10.1 evolution with Sumiko BB with a Bel Canto Phono3 for analog and a EMM Labs XDS1 for digital (Oppo 95 feeds optical to XDS1 for DVDA). Preamp is ARC Reference 5SE and power amps are Electrocompaniet Nemos.

Thiel SS2.2s x 2 with S1 integrator for stereo music.

Cyril I hope the 2.7 is better than the speaker they are building in China (can't remember the model#), the bookshelf they converted to a floor-stander.

What's wrong with the SCS4?

The SCS4T's (the floorstander version) got a glowing review in this month's TAS.

Hey Tom...looks like the 2.7 derives from 3.7's midrange/trable coax driver and construction looks very nice. I think this ought to be a nice step up from my 2.4s. If I were to stay with Thiel, I would consider this strongly with a pair of SS2.2s or a nice used pair of 3.7s with a paid of SS2.2s. But my sights are on Rockport next although that is still going to take a while

I hope you are enjoying your 3.7s. Great speakers

They did indeed but I think the Stereophile review of the SCS4T's was not so laudatory (I believe it came out last year): Thiel Audio SCS4T loudspeaker | Stereophile.com

Not that that means anything but it's interesting (and understandable) that Thiel has a link to another informal blog that Stephen Meijas wrote about the SCS4T's in Stereophile (Thiel) that is more positive but not the official review above
