It’s a big part of the hobby for sure. Without the gear, what would we discuss and argue about?

I operate under the premise it all matters, and cost is not the deciding factor for excellence. The more options you allow yourself over time coupled with the discipline to critically listen, it becomes easily apparent what helps make the sound matter most that you dig. Playing with cables and listening to the music IMO is the hobby...something I immensely enjoy!

My favorite type of post................ one where one listener tells the other what the other is hearing. I always wonder how the 'telling person' is able to crawl inside the other person's brain to know what the other person is hearing? Or, do they hook up a special, invisible $20 cable from the other person's brain to their own so they can listen with the other person's ears? You can tell us what you hear but you cannot tell us what someone else hears.

Sometimes we get too focused on ‘proof’ for something to be true or real - the differences are sometimes very clear and other times not, depending on what you’re comparing...

C’mon now, it you use a $20 invisible cable you are going to get treble roll-off , no deep bass and bloated mid-bass. You will probably get a soundstage that extends an inch or two outside the ears which is can’t be accurate when what you are looking for is what is between the ears. Now a $2000 invisible cable...
