The lute shape of the Elipsa allow for placement closer to the side walls then box speakers. If your happy with the midrange, imaging and feel that only bass is lacking then all you need to do is add a good sub such as JL audio or Rel . The Elipsa is a great sounding speaker if you can swing them.

What I am missing with the Extrema is some of the detail and transparency that the ML is so good at.
I guess you can't have it all

I listen mostly to Jazz with some classcal too. My room size is 12 by 16 feet with the speaker sitting on the 12 feel wall. The cieling is acoustically treated and slanted at 10' to 11'.
Controlling bass is not an issue. I have my Lyngdorf preamp with Room Correction that takes care of this. I have been able to make most speakers I have sound beutiful in my room.

Now to my main concern. The Extrema although it has a glorious midrange is missing some of the detail and transparency my Martin Logan had in spades. Will I get this detal and transparency back with the Elipsa?

BTW, I am tempted to keep the Extrema it is a piece of art!

Thanks

Having owned ML, 4 pairs of Sonus Faber, 3 pairs of Wilson, I can tell you this. If you love the Extrema midrange and musicality, solve your bass inadequacy problem with a pair of subs... If you are looking for transient speed and transparency, go for another pair of ML... If you want to have 98% of the speed, transparency and dynamic performance as well as bass better than either, go with Wilson.

Room treatments may solve your bass issue.

I have the best treatment of them all. Lyngdorf DPA-1 with Room Correction. If your room does not have echo problems this will take care of the rest.
As I wrote earlier my best audio investment!

How would the Elipsa stack up? I believe you are using a pair. I was told it should have some of the transient speed and transparency of the ML.
I still have my ML Spire until I decide what to do.
BTW, I had SF speakers in the past although from their Domus series and like the SF sound. But after living with ML for two years I want the best of both worlds and the Elipsa might be the answer.
