Hello Marc, I went with a 2017 M4 Cabriolet with a 6 speed. Great handling, great speed, great styling and lots of tech. I have owned many bmws, 335i, 535d, x5d, x1. Loved the 335i but it was never the same after the fuel pump was replaced on the recall. the 535d, great motor, terrible handling, The servo steering was awful.. X1 (my wife's) fun to drive but the 4 banger was really an unrefined motor. X5d (wife's suv) great unit won't give it up. Incredible gas mileage and utility. M4 I won't give up. It tick's too many boxes and the 6 speed is a blast. But I don't have to drive in bumper to bumper traffic on the i5 or 405( don't envy you, had to do it last weekend). I have a friend who has owned many Porsches and he says the Macan is a fabulous vehicle and an incredible value in the Porsche line up. Just my .02 worth..... Regards Joe.

Congrats! I can't wait to drive one. Haven't seen a manual yet. I'll probably end up with an automatic or dct no matter what car I pick in the end. Manuals barely exist, which is unfortunate.

Hey Marc, look at your avatar ........ now go out and get yourself a Camaro SS 1LE, save yourself some serious coin and you will still kick butt on the majority of the German offerings.

That avatar is my car, I only like classic chevys. Just not a fan of what they are doing these days. I drove a new camaro ss and it felt like it was falling apart compared to my 335. Just my experience and my opinion. Otoh, I think the new vette will be sick! I just can't afford it.

I hadn't considered this one at all before, but like I said above, I had a discussion with Greg and he definitely recommends I try one as well.

Just my 2 cents...
The M2 is an amazingly fun to drive car. Nimble, fast, and great looking particularly is a non-bland color like Estoril Blue. They come with manual transmission too.
The 997 Porsches are nice and reliable. But beware that Porsche stopped making the 997 long ago (2005 I think) so no warranty. I am sure that you can find plenty of low mileage garage queens out there.
Since several folks mentioned Audi, you should consider the Audi A5 Sportsback. It looks like the A7 but smaller. They may have a S version as well.
