Q7s Resale
There is a pair of Q7s for sale in Audiogon for $99K. These are supposed to be 6 months old on a trade to a dealer. We are talking $85K value loss in 6 months!
If legit (I'm not saying it isn't), this could be one heck of a deal for someone and a heck of a loss someone else.

This news could make me heart attack. But in reality It is not.
Nobody buys full retails for such product. Consider shipping cost for such a weight and import duty and it end up not too far lower than A price of street price for new pair. A pair of Used Alexandria X2 series 1 were in 7x,xxx $ range. Too As well as used MIT s top Oracle or Transparent Opus. Such a big depreciation for these exotic gears. Because the retails are absurd to start with. I hope there is a lucky guy who happen to like Q7 sound and has the mean to Take that 6 months old pair home. Toga |

Those millionaires !
If you think about it, the value loss on exotic speakers is no different than other luxury items. |

These were traded in for another speaker's brand. The manufacturer accepted them. So basically, he needs to recoup the COSTS of his own speaker. Much easier that way.
But I don't see how that could've been a good deal for the old proprietor... alexandre |

If those speakers list for $180k (I don't know the number) then about $100k makes sense to me for a resale value on the used market. Now if you were purchasing from a dealer with some warranty, maybe a somewhat higher for a used pair.

That's the thing, they used to be listed at $160k. Only after 1/1/2013 they became US$ 185k.
This same pair was being sold for US$ 120k, and it didn't sell. My guess is that people were getting similar prices out of their dealers. That's why it's US$ 99k now. alexandre |

I observed that during a change of distributorship, the previous dealer sometimes clears stock at deep discount. I saw new Q7 was listed at only $106K.

Wouldn't the warranty still apply?

I do not know whether Magico transfers warranty. I have never looked into that.

I read interview somewhere during HOVLAND closure that normally dealer get 50% off the list price.
Cant remember more details. So 106,000 for a new pair of Q7 is still profitable. |
