For me, it's living in an apartment and not being able to turn the volume knob up to that sweet spot where the sound stage just opens up. At least, I can't do that with any music that has any sort of bass to it. Piano and orchestral I sort of can, but still not really. Darn apartment living...

Oh man, sorry. I have decent separation between my house and my neighbors. I've push some crazy sound levels and my neighbor, who is an older lady tells me she has never heard my stereo. Works for me!

My hearing. I have some upper midrange and treble hearing loss, a combination of a noisy work environment in my younger days, too many loud concerts, genetics and age. I still enjoy my system immensely but I don't hear as much detail as I used to and sometimes when I hear (or don't hear) something I can't tell if it's my system or my hearing.

Good one. And realizing that some recordings in the 50s are better than today! Like Dave brubecks time out. If they could do it then, why can't we have amazing recordings as the norm by now?

We have engineers who don't know what they are doing because they are ignorant, think people want what they are delivering or they are just stupid.

They have too many electronic toys at their disposal to alter the sound of the performance and think they need to be used all the time.

I second the thoughts previously mentioned about never having the time to listen to as much music as possible... And volumes for apartment/condo living. But no one has complained yet...
But the rub of my system is that vocals have just a touch of leanness that I'd like to amend. Credit for that is probably the Oppo BDP-95.
But otherwise, I've NEVER heard my system sound better after recent upgrades and configuration changes.
