Another great thread to read. I'm of pretty simple means.
I spent awhile on the used market in the $1000-2000 area.
My favorite little speaker was the Platinum Audio Solo. Awesome little speaker .
Think I paid $900. They said not for tube amps. I ran em with a vk60 and those speakers kicked. Unbelievable room filling bass from 4" woofers.
The original AP Virgo we're great imagers but had no deep bass, needed a good sub.
Coincident total victorys were also a good speaker for the money. I really like the ribbon tweeters.
Joseph rm22( se or si, don't remember exactly)real nice speakers.
All those speakers were purchased 8-10 years ago. I've been out of the game awhile.
Right now I'm running kef r300. Just got em. Heard them running at the store couple weeks ago. I couldn't believe the sound . I automatically figured they were way more money. When I found out the price I left my speakers there and took these home. Now broken in I'm very happy I did.

Too many to write, but I still do some mastering work with ADS-L910s, amongst others.

My list of speakers owned is not as illustrious as many other members, but none the less I have very much enjoyed the speakers i've owned which include;

- Infinity Reference 3's: These were large 3 way bookshelf's which new IMG (Injection moulded graphite) inverted cone drivers which were quite ahead for their time. They were heavy too & bent the wooden shelf they were on! Not bad for a poor 17 yo student (ps: sorry I couldn't find a photo of these speakers, so I posted one off the net).
- Infinity Reference 60's: These were top of the range towers in the Reference series from 1991 & featured twin 8" IMG bass drivers & an Emit-R tweeter. These speakers looked lovely in Oak veneer & always brought a smile to my face.
- Infinity Renaissance 90's: These were a BIG ugprade from my old Reference 60's! Deeper bass from the 10" Watkins dual voice coil woofer (though I never had enough watts to get the most out of it), better mid bass from the Mid-bass coupler and faster, cleaner mids & highs from the High Energy Emim & Emit tweeters. The cabinet was also unique and threw a very even, wide sound stage. As a result, the speakers could be placed almost straight ahead, with very minimal toe in.
- Marten Coltrane Alto's: These are the best sounding stand mounts i've ever heard (including Magico Q1). Unlike the Q1's, the Alto's are truly full range speakers and have incredible purity which you can only really appreciate once you've heard a speaker with a moulded carbon fibre cabinet like Marten, Vandersteen or Benesch. They have incredible speed which reminds me very much of the speed & airiness of ML's, only with better image specificity. These speakers also disappear in the room thanks to their narrow, carbon/kevlar sandwhich cabinet. I must say I love the piano black/cherry finish as well

That's me guys Enjoy the pic's

My first pair of speakers were Advents back in 1974. Then I traded up to a pair of Paradox Super Rhino Column Speakers made by Sonic Energy Systems in Houston Texas. Blew these up when I moved to a Phase Linear 700 amp. So long ago......

Kirksaeter Monitor 100
Spica TC-50
Magnepan SMGa
Eminent Technology LFT-IV
VonSchweikert VR-4
Meridian DSP-5000

The one I misss the most were the Eminent Technology LFT-IV. Rated at 80db they only sold 400 pairs but that was a great sound speaker. I wish I had kept them.
