Default OPPO 105 or OPPO 205

UDP-205

or

BDP-105?

What is better for sound formats - CD, SACD and DVD-A? Video no matters. Only audio formats.

Please share your experience.

From what I understand, the 103/105 models are able to export native dsd files for transfer to media server through a hack if you don’t update the software...

The 205 is definitely better than the 105. Better audio and better video.

Some folks have complained that 105 has several apps built in and the 205 does not. But actually it is best to keep the apps out of the unit because the apps in the 105 are not updated frequently.

The only thing that the 105 does that the 205 cannot do is ripping SACDs.

I have both units.

I gonna use it for playback of original CD-SACD hybrid and DVD-A discs and nothing else.

another fan of the 205 here as well, had the 83 prior. If there's a better disc spinner at it's price point I haven't seen or heard it. Shame they are no longer being produced, but I understand what's going on .......

For that purpose the 205 is better because it has better DACs (Dual SABRE PRO DACs).

I have had a 95, listened and rented a 105, waited for the 205 to pull the trigger. Go with a 205 if you can get one

I did update the 105 and 103 and they can still rip SACDs. The 205 and 203
cannot do it unfortunately. This is reason I bought a second hand 103 and
to be able to stream Netflix or Vudu.

I have both a 105D and a 205. Both work flawlessly for me but I prefer 205 over the 105D for the way it sounds and the better video. Since I mostly stream movies, I have to use the 105D but to get the better sound and video I have it connected via HDMI into the 205 so I get the best of both worlds. For BluRay and 4k movies I only use the 205. Either lets me play 5.1 video concerts. For 2 channel CD/SACD I prefer a dedicated stereo player over either of the Oppo's. Oppo was a fantastic value for many years and I am sorry to see them go.
