Very interesting read. This seems like quite an accomplished integrated. You can also get DAC and phono modules added as well for a true one-box solution. The majority of the review is focused on the integrated amp but he does spend a considerable time going over his impressions of the add-on modules. Highly recommended for anyone considering an integrated and even those who are not. Seems like Class D has come a long way, and, Roy Gregory gives a thoroughly positive review of a Class D amp for the first time with Continuum S2.

Cyril.......Reading Roy Gregory's review of the Jeff Rowland Continuum S2 integrated amplifier was like reading my own review of the Gato Audio DIA-400 integrated amp/Dac that also happens to be a Class D amplifier. In the same way Mr. Gregory was surprised, startled even, about the Continuum S2's sonic performance and neutrality despite being a Class D amplifier, so was I in the exact same way with the Gato Audio DIA-400. Class D amplification is here in a big way and despite its lingering stigma from days past its performance and sound are true high-end.

Dan...my pleasure. Yes, I have had a bias against Class D amplification and the sad thing is that it has been cultivated purely based on what I have read in reviews of earlier pieces, having never actually heard a Class D amp. This opened my eyes to the fact that clearly this topology has come a long way and like with most things, it's not only the theoretical plusses and minuses of each approach or topology that counts, but more so it's how well it's implemented to achieve a sonic result that gets you closer to the music. There are good examples and bad examples of Class A, Class A/B. Class D, tubes vs. SS amps, etc...
