It is passed already about 1 month.
My next vacation I plan to replace fuses in new digital processor AMR DP-777.

I tried the AMR fuses in my new Bricasti DAC and I thought it was and improvement but not as much as with the HiFiTuning Supreme but they are one third of the Supreme cost.

Exactly what I found to be true but in a different application: conrad-johnson CA200 Control Amplifier. For some reason, the fuse in the IEC connector has a tendency to blow at times. At $60 a pop, it was getting expensive with the Supreme fuses so I tried the AMR Gold Fuse.

The AMR is quite nice and a definite improvement over the stock glass fuse. But it's not as dynamic and clear as the Supreme. The Gold Fuse is also directional and has more clarity and heft in one orientation over the other.

Tom,

Do you think is a problem replacing a L graded fuse with a H graded?
I just bought a McIntosh C2300 and want to replace the main fuse with a HFiTining Supreme but he C2300 spec says T500mAL and the Supreme is not glass tube.

No problem replacing an L graded fuse with an H graded fuse. Let us now how it sounds after the upgrade!

Tom

P.S. there is definitely a problem repalcing an H graded fuse with an L one.

L means "low breaking capacity", i.e., glass and H means "high breaking capacity", i.e., white or grey ceramic tube. H is simply less fragile.

Breaking capacity is the current that a fuse is able to interrupt without being destroyed or causing an electric arc. In a short circuit condition, the wire element in a glass body fuse may vaporize and plate the inside of the glass tube with metal, causing the circuit to be completed again, or causing an arc that could damage the equipment.

Ceramic body fuses are not hollow. The body is filled with a powered ceramic material that prevents plating.

Thanks Tom...a most helpful clarification!

I have a McIntosh C2300 preamp. I changed the external fuse to an equivalent HiFiTuning Supreme. Yesterday I open the unit and discovered another fuse that is Small 125mA Slow Blow. HiFiTuning does not have a 125mA fuse. They just have 100mA or 160mA.
Is it safe to order the 100mA? Do you think it will not blow?

Thanks.

You're right, I don't see a listing for a small Supreme fuse in that rating but they do have small slow blow 125mA fuses in both the Gold and Silver variety. Either of them might be a consideration.
